Beautifully decorated, fully equipped and very comfortable.

April 2018

We very much enjoyed our stay at Barley Cottage. It is beautifully decorated, fully equipped and very comfortable. Russell was great at promptly replacing a couple of failed light bulbs and in replacing the toaster. In fact it is difficult to think what more could have been done. The weather was not the best but it opened other opportunities for us to appreciate what Lothian has.

Great holiday cottage in great location.

September 2015, Rated 5 out of 5

A lovely cottage, a home from home. The kitchen had everything we needed and we especially liked the welcome basket of fresh bread, homemade jam and free range eggs, a really nice touch. The property is finished to a high standard, the beds are very comfortable and the property had ample space for our group of 6 adults. Lucy popped in on the evening of our arrival and made us feel very welcome. With lovely country views and central location we couldn’t have stayed anywhere better, we all look forward to returning to Barley Cottage in the near future and will be delighted to recommend this charming holiday property to family and friends.

Clean and fresh

August 2015, rated 5 out of 5

A fabulous cottage in a quiet area large enough for our family, clean and fresh and all you could need. Easy access to the station for Edinburgh and plenty of attractions within driving distance. A beautiful area and a beautiful cottage with lovely owners topped off by the muffins waiting for us on our arrival. Highly recommended. We will definitely return one day.

Beautiful Cottage, Great Location for Edinburgh and East Lothian Golf

Rated 5 of 5, May 2015

We stayed at Barley Cottage for a week whilst celebrating my mother’s 90th birthday in Edinburgh. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the views on waking each morning were fantastic. My daughter and her husband shared a room with their 5 month old baby and were delighted with the cot and high chair supplied by Lucy. The kitchen has everything you could wish for (and more) and the lounge is ideal for relaxing at the end of the day. Being only an easy 20 minutes drive from the outskirts of Edinburgh makes the location ideal for visiting Scotland’s Capital but as the beaches, golf courses and friendly pubs are only 10 minutes away this is an ideal location for a family or sporting holiday too.

Couldn't have asked for a better holiday!

August 2015, Rated 5 out of 5

Fantastic cottage, ideal for our ever growing family - we have a 10, 8 & 6 year old plus a 9 month old baby. Train station to Edinburgh 5 minutes drive away, nearest town 10 minutes drive away and beach 15 minutes drive away (or you can go by train too) so the location of the cottage is perfect for everything. The garden was a lovely extra to have which the children explored and loved the hare which visited every day.

The property itself looks exactly as it does in the pictures! The decor is beautiful and the master bed is massive! My children loved the space in the bedrooms so much so, they have tidied their bedrooms on their return home! Now that’s an impressive achievement so thank you Lucy!

We can’t wait to return as this property is such a find for a big family.

Exactly what we needed!

Peaceful, spotless and tastefully furnished. Everything provided, even some toys for my two year old granddaughter. Five minutes to Drem railway station for a quick service to Edinburgh and a short drive from the beautiful North Berwick. Would definitely stay again.

Great Relaxing Holiday

Rated 5 of 5, April 2015

Second time we’ve been to Barley Cottage and it won’t be the last! - Great location, cottage has all mod cons, 3 bedrooms, great views and near to North Berwick, Haddington etc. Lucy always makes us feel very welcome e.g. when we arrived there was a welcome pack including fresh scones, jam, chocolate etc - a great touch. Has a nice peaceful garden etc. Many Thanks Lucy.

Fantastic Cottage, great views, Peaceful

Rated 5 of 5, July 2015

What a great holiday cottage, very clean and tastefully done with all the creature comforts you need to have a home from home feeling even down to a nice welcome pack including local produce, along with all the essentials for your arrival we couldn’t ask for more and the home made malteser cakes yum yum. Thank you! We stayed at Barley Cottage for a week we wished we had booked two weeks. Barley Cottage is set within Kilduff Farm estate and its beautiful grounds.

We loved coming back in the evenings after a day out to relax and unwind especially with the log burner and lovely views from Barley Cottage, loved waking up in the morning with the cows in the field and a pheasant in the garden! So quiet and peaceful! We loved the bird feeders in the Garden and the owners were kind enough to leave plenty of bird feed too!

The Garden was great with everything you needed and was safe for children to play in. It was also great to have the Wi-Fi. A big beautiful bath downstairs and a fantastic shower upstairs, the shower I would say is probably one of the best I’ve ever used! The bedrooms were very comfortable with even a couple of boxes of toys for the young children in the wardrobe, excellent! We will definitely be back again to Barley Cottage!

Beautiful Cottage, wonderful place.”

Rated 5 out of 5, May 2015

We stayed at Barley Cottage last week and our stay was fantastic. Located on the Kilduff Farm estate, the cottage is spacious and has everything you need with some lovely thoughtful extras from Lucy. The cottage is of a really high standard and we’ve already recommended staying there to family and friends. Logs for the stove fire, handy out-buildings, a parking bay, barbecue outside on the patio in the private garden, nice furnishings, good central heating, a good shower and large bath, wifi, etc., etc., etc. We will return!

We found the location great as well with plenty to see and do. ‘The Waterside’ pub in Haddington is a must, we visited the lovely town of North Berwick, the Museum of Flight, the Motor Museum and took a 30 minute train journey from Drem into Edinburgh to visit Edinburgh Castle. Even Drem train station is ideally placed at the back of the farms estate, just half a mile from the cottage with really convenient parking!!
We loved our week here and can’t wait go back.
